T.Stanes and Company Limited, established in 1861 with a focus on coffee curing, expanded into various sectors. As pioneers in coffee and tea cultivation in the Nilgiris, they played a significant role in shaping Coimbatore's industrial landscape.

Sir Robert Stanes established Coimbatore's first cloth mill, earning the city its title as the 'Manchester of South India'. The company also spearheaded Coimbatore's initial electricity and public transport systems. Additionally, T.Stanes became renowned for mechanical fertilizer mixing and introduced instant coffee to India.

In 1961, during its Centenary year, T.Stanes and Company Limited was acquired by the Amalgamations Group, with Late Shri S. Anantharamakrishnan playing a key role. As part of the group, Stanes focused on sustainable innovation and growth, eventually making agriculture its primary focus. By the late 1980s, after significant R&D, the company expanded its product range to include bio-products, organic fertilizers, growth regulators, and biological pest controls. These are marketed through Stanes' vast rural network, continuously engaging with farmers and supporting community development.
